A New Direction for CWA Local 1040

Total Transparency

You have a right to know how your Union is run. I will break down the walls and ensure information flows freely from all angles, giving every member the facts they need to hold their leadership accountable.

Restore the Trust

Leadership is a responsibility, not a privilege. I commit to an honest, consistent approach where the needs of our membership are the only priority, no exceptions and no compromises.

Demand Results

Our membership is tired of explanations; it's time for execution. I will replace vague promises with a transparent track record of wins, providing a direct line of accountability for every objective we tackle.

One of You. For All of Us.

My commitment to leadership and advocacy began long before I entered the union office. With six years as a public school teacher and five years as a school administrator—including serving as Principal—I learned how to lead complex organizations and manage budgets. But more importantly, I learned that a leader’s first loyalty must always be to the people. That belief also drove me to found and lead a nonprofit, purchasing a building, in honor of my former student Maurice Lewis, to create a dedicated community space for organizing and providing vital programs for youth and their families. It also pushed me to help lead a teacher unionizing drive as a school administrator, knowing full well the risk I was taking. When the superintendent found out, I was fired. I knew that outcome was coming, and I took that risk anyway—despite having a family to provide for—because I believe the right to organize is more important than any single job title.

I brought that same "build-it-from-the-ground-up" mentality to the front lines of the NJ Department of Corrections. For nearly three years, I stood in the classrooms as a teacher, seeing firsthand the gaps in the support we deserve. As a Shop Steward and Branch President at Southern State and Bayside, I learned that in this environment, the only way to win is to fight. From fighting for distance learning during the chaos of COVID to demanding a fair and equitable evaluation process for teachers, I proved that "waiting for change" isn't a strategy—action is.

That trajectory led me to work directly for the Local for three and a half years as a Staff Representative and Communications Director. But my commitment to the rank-and-file never wavered. Even while working for the Local, I served as a shop steward, fighting for the rights and dignity of my own colleagues. I believe that accountability starts at home; if we cannot fight for our own in the office, we cannot effectively fight for our members in the field.

Because I refused to ignore the nonsense and dared to hold leadership accountable, my contract was not renewed. After three and a half years of successful representation and proven wins for our members, union leadership couldn't even provide a reason why. They didn't have a performance issue; they had a transparency issue. They tried to silence a voice that would not bend by sending me back to the classrooms of the Department of Corrections, but in doing so, they only confirmed why a new direction for CWA Local 1040 is not just desired—it is necessary.

I have negotiated record-breaking contracts, organized worksites to build power and member solidarity, and established the structures needed to hold management’s feet to the fire. I have never been afraid to stand my ground and refuse to bend the knee. I have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with you to build the branches you desire and the protection you deserve. Now, I am running for President to bring this entire lifetime of experience—as an administrator, a community advocate, and a union organizer—to every single member of CWA Local 1040.

Frequently asked questions

Why are you running for President of CWA Local 1040 now?

Because we can no longer afford the cost of "business as usual." For too long, the membership has been sidelined while leadership operated behind closed doors. I am running because CWA Local 1040 deserves a new direction—one where the members are the priority, the books are open, and the leadership is held to the same standard as the people they represent.

You mention a need for "Accountability." Can you give a specific example of where the Local has failed?

Absolutely. The Local failed to follow basic IRS guidelines regarding W-2s and, in an inexcusable breach of security, sent Social Security Numbers via unsecured email attachments. This wasn't an isolated incident; it happened to me and dedicated Branch Officers. When the Local treats its own leadership with such negligence, it is a sign of systemic failure. I am running to ensure that no member’s privacy, security, or dignity is ever compromised by incompetence again.

Do you have the administrative experience to lead a Local of this size?

Yes. I bring a unique combination of executive competence and union grit. With five years as a School Principal and School Administrator, I have managed large organizations and complex budgets. Combine that with my tenure as a Branch President, Staff Rep, and Communications Director for the Local, and I have a proven ability to navigate the system while fighting the battles necessary to win record-breaking contracts. I know how the Local works—and I know exactly how to fix it.

What makes you different from other candidates?

I have a proven track record of putting the rights of workers above my own career. I risked my livelihood to help teachers unionize, and I have faced professional retaliation for refusing to "bend the knee" to leadership nonsense. I don't just talk about integrity and accountability; I have lived them, and I have paid the price for them. I am not running for a title—I am running to bring the power back to the membership.
